The Leader of Shia Muslims in Pakistan, Allama Syed Sajid Ali Naqvi, stated that the Constitution of Pakistan is a comprehensive document, and that the solution to all national issues lies in the true supremacy of the Constitution, which remains absent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He noted that Article 9 concerning fundamental rights of citizens and Article 251 regarding the practical implementation of the national language (Urdu) have yet to be enforced, despite a historic Supreme Court ruling in 2015 on the matter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He expressed these views on the occasion of Pakistan\u2019s Constitution Day, adding that after five decades, it is time to reflect whether the nation will ever witness the practical enforcement of constitutional supremacy and the rule of law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He emphasized that the Constitution of Pakistan is the document that has kept the country united by connecting all its components; however, due to the absence of a strong and stable democratic system, crises have continued to emerge periodically.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He further stated that the nine fundamental constitutional principles \u2014 equality before law, fair trial, protection of the individual, right to education and healthcare, freedom of religion and expression, freedom of movement, freedom to form political parties, and access to information \u2014 have often remained unavailable in practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Referring to the historic Supreme Court decision of 2015, he expressed regret that no concrete steps have yet been taken to implement Article 251 regarding the national language, noting that language is a core identity of nations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He concluded by stating that only through constitutional supremacy and the rule of law can the country move forward on the path of progress and development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
