The Prophetic Mission and the Ascension of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH & his family)are a Universal Charter of Guidance, Salvation, and Human Elevation

Rawalpindi / Islamabad – January 16, 2026:
The Leader of the Shia in Pakistan, Allama Syed Sajid Ali Naqvi, in his message on the occasion of the Day of the Prophetic Mission and the Night of Ascension (Mi‘raj), stated that the 27th of Rajab is the blessed day on which humanity was liberated from idol worship and all negative beliefs, and guided toward the worship of God and the recognition of divine unity. On this day, mankind received glad tidings of worldly and eternal success when Allah Almighty proclaimed the final mission of His last Prophet, Muhammad al-Mustafa (peace be upon him and his family), until the end of time.

He said that prior to the Day of the Prophetic Mission, humanity was engulfed in decline and chaos; society was plagued by disorder, corruption had spread everywhere, human lives had been rendered insignificant by hatred and wars, the dignity of women and the rights of daughters were violated, everyone fashioned a god according to personal desires, and ethics, patience, and tolerance had virtually disappeared. The bond between the Creator and the creation had been severed, and humanity had forgotten the true recognition of its real Creator. In such circumstances, the mission of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him and his family) proved to be a momentous glad tiding and a promise of everlasting salvation for humankind.

He further stated that the event of the Ascension (Mi‘raj), which occurred on another night of the 27th of Rajab, stands as an unparalleled example of human elevation. The continuous advancement of modern scientific knowledge supports the reality of the Ascension; renowned scientist Albert Einstein acknowledged it, and the eminent philosopher Mulla Sadra also comprehended its dimensions. Beyond the physical and spiritual aspects of the Ascension, a deeper reflection reveals the pinnacle of closeness and love between the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him and his family) and Allah Almighty—a distinction not granted to any other prophet.

He added that on the Night of Ascension, fundamental principles and laws were conveyed through the most authentic means between the Creator and the creation, namely the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him and his family). Traversing vast distances in the blink of an eye and reaching a special station is among the great signs of divine power, the full reality of which is known only to Allah and His Messenger. Nevertheless, it contains countless lessons for humanity. While the event of the Ascension brings joy and happiness, it also teaches us the ethics of living. Among the gifts of the Ascension is prayer (Salat), which, according to the Prophet (peace be upon him and his family), is the ascension of the believer. Therefore, we must keep our own ascension in view, so that we too may attain the blessing of nearness to and meeting with God.
