Shia Ulema Council Announces Nationwide Protests Against the Tralai Incident in Islamabad

Rawalpindi / Islamabad – February 13, 2026

Responding to the call of the Shia Ulema Council Pakistan, protest demonstrations, rallies, seminars, and other programs were held across the federal capital, all four provinces—Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa—as well as Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, and in cities and towns nationwide, following Friday prayers. The events were organized to condemn the suicide bombing at Jamia Mosque and Imambargah Khadijat al-Kubra in Tralai, Islamabad.

A large number of religious scholars, central, provincial, divisional, district, and tehsil-level leaders and members of the Shia Ulema Council and the JSO (Jafaria Students Organization), along with members of the public, participated in the protests. Strongly worded resolutions condemning the attack were adopted.

The Shia Ulema Council Pakistan demanded that the government conduct a transparent and impartial investigation into the incident, expose the masterminds and facilitators of the terrorists, and bring them to justice.

Addressing the protest gatherings, Council leaders described the Tralai incident as an act of enemies of unity, who seek to fragment national cohesion and reignite sectarian strife in Pakistan.

They stated that the people of Pakistan demonstrated national awareness and unity by raising their voices against oppression across the country, proving that the nation stands united and that a handful of miscreant terrorists and their facilitators cannot divide the unity of the Ummah.

Religious scholars termed the loss of lives in the Jamia Mosque Khadijat al-Kubra incident a failure on the part of the government to provide security to its citizens and worshippers even in the federal capital. They urged the authorities to conduct an immediate, impartial investigation, uncover the real motives behind the attack, and ensure that all perpetrators and facilitators are brought to justice.

Council leaders at all levels concluded by praying for the elevation of the martyrs’ ranks, expressing heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, and praying for the speedy recovery of the injured.
