Leader of the Shia Muslims in Pakistan, Allama Syed Sajid Ali Naqvi, said in his message on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Imam Hasan al-Askari (peace be upon him) that Imam Hasan ibn Ali, known by the kunya Abu Muhammad and the title al-Askari, assumed the position of Imamate under extremely difficult and challenging circumstances following the martyrdom of his father, Imam Ali al-Naqi (peace be upon him).
He stated that the impact of Imam Hasan al-Askari’s Imamate became clearly evident in society and his surrounding environment, and that large numbers of people were drawn toward the path of truth and righteousness.
Allama Syed Sajid Ali Naqvi further said that despite facing various forms of pressure and intense surveillance by the rulers of his time, Imam Hasan al-Askari took numerous measures to safeguard Islam and confront anti-Islamic ideologies, thereby rendering efforts directed against Islam ineffective.
He noted that due to the difficult circumstances of Imam Hasan al-Askari’s era and the severe restrictions imposed by the authorities, he was unable to openly disseminate his extensive knowledge throughout society. Nevertheless, despite these restrictions, he trained a number of students, each of whom played an important role in disseminating and promoting Islamic teachings and contributing to the reform of society. Among his students were Ahmad ibn Ishaq al-Qummi, Uthman ibn Sa’id, and Ali ibn Ja’far.
He emphasized that whenever difficulties and challenges arose, Imam Hasan al-Askari would resolve even the most difficult problems through his profound knowledge, wisdom, and remarkable leadership.
According to Allama Syed Sajid Ali Naqvi, when injustice, inequality, violence, and various forms of wrongdoing become widespread in human societies, people look toward a savior who can deliver them from their difficulties, eliminate oppression, purify society from corruption, and establish a peaceful, righteous, and virtuous society.
He said that one of the aspects of the greatness and eminence of Imam Hasan al-Askari is that the righteous savior awaited by humanity is none other than his noble son, Imam al-Mahdi (peace be upon him).
The Leader of the Shia Muslims in Pakistan stressed that humanity in general, and the Muslim world in particular, is facing numerous crises and challenges in the present era, while human societies have experienced serious moral and social decline. In such circumstances, humanity is in need of guidance and leadership.
He said that this guidance and leadership can be attained by studying the Seerah of Imam Hasan al-Askari (peace be upon him), following his example, and putting his teachings into practice.
He therefore called upon Muslims to follow the Seerah of Imam Hasan al-Askari (peace be upon him), work toward freeing humanity from its challenges, establish a genuine Islamic and democratic system, and build societies founded upon justice and fairness, while fulfilling their individual and collective responsibilities toward the betterment of society.
